Cook Children’s Hospital is a major regional pediatric facility in Ft. Worth, TX. Scope included various new and renovation projects in and around the campus including: Expansion of six (6) Operating Room Suites, endoscopy, PACU and StepÂdown recovery, waiting rooms, New North Addition Building with 100 beds, New PICU, Expanded NICU, and New Conference center with auditorium.
Role and responsibility of our architectural group included maintaining the facility master plan and implementing projects per that plan. This allowed for a uniform and controlled growth of the facility from both a space plan and budget perspective.
As this was an on-going effort, there was continuous involvement with Cook Children’s Administration, stakeholders and user groups throughout work on individual projects and as a result of continuously updating the master plan. In order to minimize disruption to on-going operations, all projects had to be evaluated to assure patient safety and that none were effected by noise and construction activities.
These multiple projects were completed on time and within budget over a 5-year period.
