The new Lake Forest Elementary School, a 125,000 SF facility, became a sign of resilience and progress in New Orleans as part of the $1.8 billion reconstruction and renovation of the city’s schools following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
Kenall’s team delivered comprehensive services, including laboratory testing, field inspections, and pile load testing according to the design engineer’s specifications. They also calculated essential geotechnical design parameters for the typical foundation supporting system and provided detailed guidelines for earthwork during construction, including site preparation, grading, and fill compaction.
This vital project, funded by a federal disaster declaration, was administered in compliance with federal regulations and GLO/FEMA guidelines, demonstrating Kenall’s dedication and commitment to the community and its students and educators.
