Kenall played a key role in the renovation of the Louis Armstrong International Airport (MSY), which underwent extensive upgrades in preparation for the 2013 Superbowl event. These renovations included terminal improvements, the addition of new terminals and parking garages, as well as runway extensions.
Kenall provided geotechnical services, focusing on Material Testing and Inspection in accordance with Advisory Circular (AC 150/5370-12A) standards for Quality Control of Construction on Airport Grant Projects. The specific services performed included:
- Field inspections of concrete.
- Inspection of welding and bolts, encompassing visual inspections of steel and welding, as well as ultrasonic and radiographic testing.
- Field density testing of soils and asphalt.
- Comprehensive geotechnical soil laboratory testing.
These efforts contributed to the safe and efficient execution of the airport’s modernization.
